Existem seis versões diferentes dessa canção. A primeira versão foi gravada em 1998 no Whisper EP. Esta versão tem um introdução exclusiva, composta por uma série de notas de guitarra e uma citação do filme "My World Dies Screaming" também conhecido como"Terror in the Haunted House" (1958) (1958)o mesmo filme do qual foram tiradas, em seguida, as frases de Understanding.

A terceira versão demo do Whisper contém trechos da trilha sonora de Romeu e Julieta de William Shakespeare, que são "Death Scene" e "O Verona".Uma versão ligeiramente diferente desta demo pode ser encontrada na internet e em muitos cds piratas ver Fake. Uma delas tem uma "explosão" de ruídos antes da introdução do coro (cerca de 0:29 minutos) e outra tem uma tendência "sagudida" que aparece depois dos 0:30 minutos.

Na versão contida no Fallen, no final se pode ouvir "Servatis a periculum, servatis a maleficum", que, com alguns erros, é a tradução latina de "Salve-nos do perigo, salve-nos do mal."

Durante uma entrevista no EvClub, composta por questões de fãs, foi feita a seguinte pergunta:

Fã: "Você ainda se sente ligada às canções escritas há vários anos?" Amy:: "Whisper é algo que nós tocávamos muito no palgo e eu adoro isso, é uma ótima música ao vivo. Mas, do vista da letra, não contém um grande significado para mim, porque agora eu não estou em um período negro da minha vida. Estou passando por uma fase bastante positiva, assim, a menos que esteja realmente com raiva, não me sinto totalmente ligada à Whisper."
