Feeding the Dark è la quinta traccia del quarto album degli Evanescence, The Bitter Truth. La parte di piano del bridge fu pubblicata per la prima volta da Amy sulla sua pagina ufficiale di Instagram all'interno di una storia del 30 settembre 2020. La canzone venne inizialmente composta durante le le sessioni con Lillywhite sessions nel 2010, ma scartata dall'allora casa discografica della band insieme a tutto l'altro materiale registrato quello stesso anno. Un decennio dopo si scelse di rielaborare questa traccia per l'album The Bitter Truth:

Canzini come "Yeah Right", "Feeding the Dark" e "Take Cover", abbiamo iniziato a lavorarci da quado durante il periodo di scrittura che ha anticipato l'album Evanescence, ma per qualche ragione non le abbiamo concluse, non pensavamo fossero finite. Allora non l'avrei mai detto perché mi si spezzo il cuore doverle lasciarle fuori dall'album, ma ora vedo che dovevano attendere perché noi in quel tempo non saremmo mai stati in grado di registrarle in questo modo. Questa è una novità. Quelle canzoni avevano bisogno della band del futuro per suonare così bene, sono più pesanti, mi piacciono molto.
