Incisa durante il periodo di registrazione dei demo degli anni 2001-2002 e reincisa come B-side nel singolo commerciale australiano di Bring Me To Life, Missing venne infine pubblicata come traccia bonus di Anywhere But Home (la traccia può essere anche sentita durante i titoli di coda che si inseriscono dopo l'esibizione live). La canzone è stata pubblicata internazionalmente come singolo radio in Europa ed in Sud America nel 2004.

Di seguito vi è la descrizione, secondo Exodus Evanescence, della distribuzione sonora dei sussurri in Missing:

Durante i versi c'è un avvolgente canto in sottofondo di Amy che sussurra "can you stop the fire? please... please... please..." e "you can't stop the fire" nel canale audio SINISTRO più "can you stand to fight her" e "you won't say the words" nel canale audio DESTRO. Ma nella versione più recente della canzone c'è solo "please... please..." nel canale audio SINISTRO mentre tutti i versi restanti [possono essere ascoltati] nel canale audio DESTRO.

Il canto che si sente in sottofondo lo si può ritrovare anche alla fine della versione live di Exodus che fu eseguita al Vino's il 7 maggio 1999.

Si suppone l'esistenza della "Radio version". Alcune persone dicono che questa è una versione non ufficiale, infatti l'unico download disponibile è una traccia mono con un suono di bassa qualità che ha portato a credere che fosse una "fan made". La versione radio incomincia normalmente, ma durante il primo coro ("...im the sacrifice...") la canzone si dissolve in due cori e salta l'intera seconda strofa.
