General information

Origin is the first track from Evanescence's demo album, Origin (2000).
It is a 35-second intro with sampled sound effects, whispered words and quotes taken from the 1958 movie My World Dies Screaming (also known as Terror in the Haunted House), that was used on the Evanescence EP version of Understanding and on the Sound Asleep EP version of Whisper. The intro then fades into the electric guitar of the next track on Origin, Whisper.
The intro is merged with the Origin version of Whisper on the Automata Magazine 3.0 compilation CD, released in 2001.
The intro for the May 1999 concert at Vino's contains an excerpt of Origin, then it connects to the Sound Asleep version of Whisper.
The third demo version for Haunted features this track at the beginning and then fades into the first demo of Haunted.
