Everybody Hurts è un brano della band statunitense R.E.M.. La canzone è il quarto singolo estratto dall'ottavo album della band intitolato Automatic for the People (1992) ed è divenuta, nel corso degli anni, una delle canzoni più apprezzate del gruppo: i messaggi trattati sono riassumibili nel trasmettere coraggio a chi si sente deluso dalla vita o anche desidera porre fine alla vita stessa, attraverso l'ausilio delle persone care e degli amici. È diventata una sorta di inno contro il suicidio o più semplicemente alla solidarietà, in virtù della frase "hold on" ("resisti!").
Il titolo si presenta di non facile traduzione nell'uso della lingua italiana: il verbo "to hurt" può essere inteso sia come arrecare del male, sia come sentire dolore, pertanto andrebbe bene sia "tutti fanno male" oppure "tutti provano dolore", cioè che il dolore è nella natura umana e si può dare ma anche ricevere e, di conseguenza, non bisogna lasciarsi andare alle sofferenze della vita ma per questo combatterle.
Durante il Restore Freedom Gala 2012, tenutosi il 10 aprile del 2012 a New York, Amy Lee, Paula Cole e Ashley Arrison hanno eseguito questa canzone, sia per il significato che essa racchiude e sia per l'importanza e lo scopo del gala. Il tutto è stato accompagnato da pianoforte (Amy e Paula), violoncello, chitarra acustica e cajón (Chuck Palmer).
