Cruel Summer is a song by the English-Irish girl group, Bananarama. It was released in 1983 from their second, self-titled album. Amy Lee and Troy McLawhorn covered the song as part of the acoustic live stream for Metal Hammer Germany on June 4, 2020. The song was released as a bonus track on the Target and Japanese editions of Evanescence's fifth studio album, The Bitter Truth.

I don't know about you guys, but so many songs have seemed to take on a new and deeper meaning during this [COVID-19 pandemic] time, and that's one of those for me.
