General Information

Written by: A. Lee

Song written for The Open Door sessions, but missed the cut on the album. Amy stated in an interview with MTV on November, 2004 that she was working on music for the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe.[1] The song was scrapped from the movie. According to the producers of the movie, however, Amy wasn't asked to compose music for the movie, and "No Evanescence music was planned for the soundtrack."[2]

Renée Gray (Rocky's wife) has stated on evanescence.it that the intro of The Narnia Song has been added onto Good Enough:

Vin1.jpg I do hope that they will put more songs on the album. The Narnia song reminds me of something that would belong in a Tim Burton movie. It just has that feel to it. I love it. I know the Narnia song as the "Narnia" song. On my cd that's what it is called. Yes she sings on the Narnia song, and like I said it's beautiful.

The Narnia song------GONE!! Not on the new album. The intro of the Narnia song has been added onto Good Enough.

Amy confirmed what Renée said on EvBoard:

Vin1.jpg PS- about all this Narnia crap- nothing was sliced, diced or sacrificed. The song I wrote for the movie is still intact- when I wrote it, I wrote a really long instrumental intro that is different from the rest of the song. It's just a piece of music. It turned out to be the perfect segway into the last song on the album. Chillax![3] Vin2.jpg

Amy confirmed in an interview with EvanescenceVille that Together Again is The Narnia Song and was inspired by the movie. She says the song it about "leaving home knowing it may not be there when you return, and the attraction to something frightening and wonderful far away from there."[4] In the same interview, she also claims that the song remains unfinished as of now, but that it will be released someday. But according to EvanescenceVille, this song (along with If You Don't Mind) has been finished and officially published. It is stated on BMI Repertoire.[5]

On Metal Edge magazine, Amy said this about the song:

Vin1.jpg I wrote something else that was moody, dark and really cool, and the director wanted something that felt more hopeful. The song was about saying goodbye and moving on, and that’s what they’re doing in [the beginning of] the movie when they’re leaving their parents and going into some scary, unknown place. That’s how I wrote it, from their perspective. I thought the song was perfect. And it wasn’t like I put a bunch of guitars in it. I made stuff that was cool and vibey but was still haunting, and I think that’s the part they didn’t like.[6] Vin2.jpg

There was speculation that the song was going to be released as a B-side on the Good Enough Maxi single, but this turned out to be false.[4] Amy said that it was probably a mistake by the label, and that she is saving it for a rainy day.[4] Amy might have made this statement because according to her, she's happy on rainy days. It also inspires her to write more songs.

On January 22nd, 2010, Amy announced on her Twitter account the release of the song to the public, after the Haiti earthquake events - "Today @Evanescence is releasing a new song, Together Again, and the proceeds are going to help Haiti! Details to follow!".[7]

If you were to donate five dollars or more, you would receive this song.

On EvClub Amy explains the reason of publishing the song:

Vin1.jpg Hey guys. I posted this blog on EvClub last night, and I just thought it should be here too...

Pain is a big part of life. It is the thing that brings us to earth, keeps us tightly connected to each other. I've never felt closer to people than in times of great sorrow or distress, and I guess this is what connects us, people all over the world, to people in Haiti right now. We are the same creatures with the same heart, and as strong as we may feel sometimes, we are completely helpless to the brokenness of this world. Bad things happen. Sometimes its nobody's fault. But the pain that we feel should make us better.... more sensitive to others and more concious of our own impact on their lives. No matter what we give, people around the world will hurt just like we do. But maybe that's the point, and just for us to try to connect to that pain instead of shutting it out, is what makes us human. Thank you, all of you, for donating generously the way that I know alot of you have been. Sometimes it takes something like this to put it all in perspective. The next record- awesome. So excited about it. But really, on a grand scale, who ****ing cares. There are people dying all around us- emotionally as well as literally. That sentiment is exactly what made me begin to write music and poetry in the first place, as a kid. So again, for me that is the point, the reason, the connection. We need each other, plain and simple. So, (deep exhalation of emotional release) about the song- As most of you know, "Together Again" is a song written during the Open Door era. I have always loved it and wanted to find the perfect home for it. It wasn't at home in the Narnia movie, it didn't belong on The Open Door, and of all the other nameless opps that came up in between then and now it didn't fit there either. The recording you are hearing was made in 2005-6 along with the rest of the record. About a week ago (a couple of days after hearing about the recent events in Haiti) Josh woke up (before me as usual) and told me that he thought maybe this was where the song belonged. I was at first skeptical on my ability to put all the pieces together and make it a reality, but I think everyone around me was just wishing for a way to help too. My manager, Andy, immediately jumped on board and started making calls. My label agreed to donate their share, my publishing company did the same, even Ted Jensen (who is a very well known mastering artist) cut the fee down to virtually nothing so it was very quick and easy to get the song finished. I am very proud to say that all of the money that is donated for the download of our song except for the credit card transaction fee is going to Haiti. Its a cool way to think about it- maybe the reason it never fit anywhere else is because it belonged here, all along, for this purpose. I hope and believe that we are making a real difference together. Thank you guys again, for caring, for listening to me, and for just being fans. Thank you... to those who no matter how much pain you've felt, still remain strong enough to feel more.

love, Amy.

In September 2012, a promo CD containing this track [along with The Last Song I'm Wasting On You, If You Don't Mind, and four instrumentals (Instrumental 1, Instrumental 2, Instrumental 3 and Instrumental 4)], was put up for sale on eBay.[8] The Together Again version on the CD had a longer intro than the final version, this version is presumably a demo.[9] The seller of the promo was asked by Amy's manager to withdraw the CD from sale, and the seller complied.

Lyrics

Never thought that I'd be leaving you today
So alone and wondering why I feel this way
So wide the world
Can love remember how to get me home to you
Someday

We'll be together again
All just a dream in the end
We'll be together again

So many fears were swimming around and around in my mind
Who would have dreamed the secrets we would find

I've found a world where love and dreams and darkness all collide
Maybe this time we can leave our broken world behind

We'll be together again
All just a dream in the end
