General information
Give Unto Me is an outtake from Evanescence EP. Although it was never officially released, Ultra Rare Trax Vol. 1 contains the EP outtake with vocals, and given this maybe a fake album, the song sounds original. The instrumental version is the first track on their second EP, Sound Asleep EP.
It's credited as the third song ever written for Evanescence, Give Unto Me was written by Amy Lee. It was originally a five-and-a-half minute long piano ballad, featuring Amy's vocals and some minor effects, that never made the cut of Evanescence EP. Rolling Stone describes the song as "clearly Christian-themed".[1]
The Sound Asleep EP version is a greatly re-produced instrumental synth arrangement with many musical themes from the original song. The end of this version notably features a similar morse-code effect as can be heard at the end of the Fallen and Origin versions of "My Immortal".
