Song written for The Open Door sessions, but missed the cut on the album. Amy stated in an interview with MTV on November, 2004 that she was working on music for the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe.[1] The song was scrapped from the movie. According to the producers of the movie, however, Amy wasn't asked to compose music for the movie, and "No Evanescence music was planned for the soundtrack.".[2]
Renée Gray (Rocky's wife) has stated on evanescence.it that the intro of The Narnia Song has been added onto Good Enough:
Amy confirmed what Renée said on EvBoard:
PS- about all this Narnia crap- nothing was sliced, diced or sacrificed. The song I wrote for the movie is still intact- when I wrote it, I wrote a really long instrumental intro that is different from the rest of the song. It's just a piece of music. It turned out to be the perfect segway into the last song on the album. Chillax![3] |
Amy confirmed in an interview with EvanescenceVille that Together Again is The Narnia Song and was inspired by the movie. She says the song it about "leaving home knowing it may not be there when you return, and the attraction to something frightening and wonderful far away from there."[4] In the same interview, she also claims that the song remains unfinished as of now, but that it will be released someday. But according to EvanescenceVille, this song (along with If You Don't Mind) has been finished and officially published. It is stated on BMI Repertoire.[5]
On Metal Edge magazine, Amy said this about the song:
I wrote something else that was moody, dark and really cool, and the director wanted something that felt more hopeful. The song was about saying goodbye and moving on, and that’s what they’re doing in [the beginning of] the movie when they’re leaving their parents and going into some scary, unknown place. That’s how I wrote it, from their perspective. I thought the song was perfect. And it wasn’t like I put a bunch of guitars in it. I made stuff that was cool and vibey but was still haunting, and I think that’s the part they didn’t like.[6] |
There was speculation that the song was going to be released as a B-side on the Good Enough Maxi single, but this turned out to be false.
On January 22nd, 2010, Amy announced on her Twitter account the release of the song to the public, after the Haiti earthquake events - "Today @Evanescence is releasing a new song, Together Again, and the proceeds are going to help Haiti! Details to follow!".[7]
If you were to donate five dollars or more, you would receive this song.
On EvClub Amy explains the reason of publishing the song:
In September 2012, a promo CD containing this track [along with The Last Song I'm Wasting On You, If You Don't Mind, and four instrumentals (Instrumental 1, Instrumental 2, Instrumental 3 and Instrumental 4)], was put up for sale on eBay.[8] The Together Again version on the CD had a longer intro than the final version, this version is presumably a demo.[9] The seller of the promo was asked by Amy's manager to withdraw the CD from sale, and the seller complied.

Lyrics
Never thought that I'd be leaving you today
So alone and wondering why I feel this way
So wide the world
Can love remember how to get me home to you
Someday
We'll be together again
All just a dream in the end
We'll be together again
So many fears were swimming around and around in my mind
Who would have dreamed the secrets we would find
I've found a world where love and dreams and darkness all collide
Maybe this time we can leave our broken world behind
We'll be together again
All just a dream in the end
