General information
Written by: A. Lee, B. Moody and D. Hodges
Anywhere is the eighth track from Evanescence's demo album, Origin. In an EvBoard interview, Moody called this among one of the least favorite songs he had ever written. The story of Romeo and Juliet - as well as the Claire Danes/Leonardo DiCaprio movie version of it - is often regarded as the inspiration for this song.
In a Reddit AMA thread, Amy said that when she listens to the song, she can picture "a Renaissance fair date."[1]
The end of this track features a short 40-second sample from the end of Where Will You Go.
Original versions of Origin feature an Anywhere outtake in which David Hodges sings the chorus horridly. At the end of this outtake, there is a quote from the movie My Boyfriend's Back, "There's a lot of prejudice against the undead". The outtake can be accessed by rewinding the CD from the 30-second "Origin" intro that starts the album.
The version released on the Origin vinyl as part of The Ultimate Collection box set is the official version instead of the pre-release one.[2]

Lyrics
Album version
Dear my love, haven't you wanted to be with me
And dear my love, haven’t you longed to be free
I can’t keep pretending that I don't even know you
And at sweet night, you are my own
Take my hand
We're leaving here tonight
There's no need to tell anyone
They'd only hold us down
So by the morning's light
We'll be half way to anywhere
Where love is more than just your name
I have dreamt of a place for you and I
No one knows who we are there
All I want is to give my life only to you
I've dreamt so long I cannot dream anymore
Let's run away, I'll take you there
We're leaving here tonight
There's no need to tell anyone
They'd only hold us down
So by the morning's light
We'll be half way to anywhere
Where no one needs a reason
Forget this life
Come with me
Don't look back you're safe now
Unlock your heart
Drop your guard
No one's left to stop you
Forget this life
Come with me
Don't look back you're safe now
Unlock your heart
Drop your guard
No one's left to stop you now
We're leaving here tonight
There's no need to tell anyone
They'd only hold us down
So by the morning's light
We'll be half way to anywhere
Where love is more than just your name
[Yeah, yeah, yeah]
Yeah, yeah, yeah [ah]
Yeah, yeah... yeah [yeah yeah] [ah]
Yeah, yeah... yeah [yeah yeah] [ah]
Yeah, yeah... yeah [yeah yeah] [ah]
Yeah, yeah... yeah [yeah yeah] [ah]
Outtake version
