General Information

The 10th track on Evanescence's self-titled album, Evanescence (album).

In an interview with Spin.com[1] Amy announced the name of three new songs to be included in Evanescence's new record, among these was "Oceans":

Vin1.jpg [Oceans] starts with a big, low synth and a vocal, then the band kicks in. It's big and lush. We've been having a lot of fun playing that one especially.

I get inspired by nature, the ocean's been a theme. Brokenness has become a little bit of theme, without necessarily offering a solution.

Evanescence premiered Oceans on the 17 August 2011 during Evanescence's show in Nashville. [2]

Lyrics

Don't wanna be the one to walk away
But I can't bare the thought of one more day
I think I finally understand what it means to be lost

Can't find the road to lead us out of this
A million miles from where we burned the bridge
Can't keep pretending everything's gonna be alright

With the whole world falling down on me

Cross the oceans in my mind
Find the strength to say goodbye
In the end you'll never again wash the blood from your hands

For it's a fall from where we were before
You'll never find what you've been searching for
Something to fill the void and make up for all of those missing pieces of you

Like I could only dream to do

Cross the oceans in my mind
Find the strength to say goodbye
Everything that we believed in was a lie

Cross the oceans in your life
Find a way to draw the line
In the end you'll never again wash the blood from your hands

And we'll never learn
So we fall down again
Heaven help me find a way to dream within this nightmare

Cross the oceans in my mind
Find the strength to say goodbye
Everything that we believed in was a lie

Cross the oceans in your mind
Find a way to draw the line
In the end you'll never again wash the blood from your hands
