General information
Written by: A. Lee, B. Moody and D. Hodges[1]
Eternal is the eleventh and last track from Evanescence's demo album, Origin (2000). The song was originally in the early pre-produced stage two tracks. The first was a five-minute Eternal and the last 2 minutes were known as Demise. The two tracks "sandwiched" Listen to the Rain on Origin’s pre-release original track listing. Away from Me faded into the beeping sounds on the beginning of Eternal. Then after Eternal, Listen to the Rain came in. The song ended with Demise.[citation needed]
On true pre-releases, some CD players do not pick up the beeping sounds, but if put into certain players the beeping can be heard fine.
The beeping sounds are samples of "Analoop 12B", from Sony Sound Series Methods of Mayhem: Industrial Toolkit (1996).[2] The beats at 0:22 are "Beat 27" from the same album.
In the home-made video of Amy Lee showing a piano to a fan who wants to buy it, Amy plays a brief part of Eternal.[3]
A part of the song was used on the piano solo The In-Between from the 2017 orchestral album, Synthesis.
