General Information

Written by: A. Lee, B. Moody, and D. Hodges

Developed during the 2001-2002 demos and later released as track #9 on Fallen. The most personal song ever written and released by Amy Lee and this is the only Fallen song that has never been performed live to date though the band considered doing it back in 2003.

The song is about the death of the sister of Amy, rumored to have drowned in the bathtub when she was only three years old. Amy was informed of the death of her sister when she was at school, she just kept smiling and acting normal and some say she had been self-denying the fact that her sister died for some time.

There is a second song written about the death of her sister on The Open Door titled Like You.

Subliminal Message

When played backwards, the part of the song "...I'm not sleeping, Hello, I'm still here..." very distinctly says "He hurts me al over. Hear me, it was not me." This is not intentionl by the band, however it is the only phrase that can be heard when Evanescence's music is played in reverse. (To hear for yourself, click here to view a You're The Man Now Dog page with the phenomenon)

Lyrics

Playground school bell rings - again
Rain clouds come to play again

Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I'm your mind
Giving you someone to talk to
Hello

If I smile and don't - believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream

Don't try to fix me I'm not broken
Hello, I'm the lie
Living for you so you can hide
Don't cry

Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here
All that's left of yesterday

Hello Hidden Backward Message

This song has been alleged of having a backward audio message. If the last (lyrical) portion of the song is played backwards, then supposedly something like "Please and don't save her, still save her, it's hurts me all over, hear me it was not me at all" could be heard. However, it is most likely to be a coincidence.
