Resurrection is a song that Amy Lee and Dave Eggar wrote for Hammerstep's short film, Indigo Grey: The Passage.

In an interview with Rolling Stone on November 5, 2015, Amy explains how she came to record the song;

It started in 2013 when one of the pieces of music inside in this Indigo Grey film was written. [Dave Eggar] had me come to the studio because Hammerstep was working on a new dance and they wanted an original piece of music.

When Amy watched the dance routine, she said that the best thing to do to write the song would be for them to "step into the vocal booth and just put the mic on and recorded [them] doing the dance". She confirmed the song they wrote is called Resurrection and it's in the middle of the film;

It's built off the sound of their body. We call it like a body beat. The recording of that is still in there, and it's sort of the core of the piece, which I think is really cool. It's fun to watch the dance at home, and as their feet are hitting the ground, I'm like, 'Put a bass drum there.' It's a fun way to build a song [and] definitely very unusual.

The song was performed live for the first time on the PBS show, Bluegrass Underground, on March 8, 2014.

Hammerstep uploaded the short film to YouTube on September 14, 2015.
