Background
Amy first revealed that she and Dave Eggar scored the film War Story in December 2013 on Twitter.[5] A month later in January 2014, she had an interview with MTV News where she revealed that the new material is going to "suprise" her fans. She explained:
It's going to surprise my fans. It's not what you’d expect; the film is very dark, very introspective. There's not even a lot of dialogue, which is great, because to me it makes this beautiful, sad platform for music. There's a lot of blending of sounds, a lot of ominous tones. I play a lot of keyboard, and a lot of Taurus pedal. There's a lot of low drones.[6] |
She further stated in the interview that it's more of an atmosphere rather than a soundtrack.[6] Before the interview was released, it was revealed that Amy is suing her label Wind-up Records for withholding $1.5 million in royalties.[7] Amy later said that it would be best for her to remain quiet about the issue.[6]
