Daniel Robert Elfman (born May 29, 1953) is an American film composer, singer and songwriter. He came to prominence as the singer-songwriter for the new wave band Oingo Boingo in the early 1980s. Since the 1990s, Elfman has garnered international recognition for composing over 100 feature film scores, as well as compositions for television, stage productions, and the concert hall. He's composed scores of 17 Tim Burton films, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas. Elfman is one of Amy Lee's inspirations.[1]
In 2008, Amy covered one of Elfman's compositions, Sally's Song, for the Nightmare Revisited compilation album.[2] Elfman introduced Amy's performance of Sally's Song at El Capitan Theatre on October 17, 2008.[2] They both met and he invited her over his house.[2]
“I’d do anything to work with Tim Burton,” Amy tells Hammer. “I love him, but I’ve never been able to meet him. I got to meet [frequent Burton musical collaborator] Danny Elfman – he had me come over to his house. I wanted to learn more about Danny’s process![3]
