Nine Inch Nails is a band that heavily influenced Amy Lee through her teenage years and when starting Evanescence.[1] In an interview with Rolling Stone on April 1, 2004, she says that their album, The Downward Spiral, helped get her through the hard times:[2]
Amy mentioned that Nine Inch Nails influenced her when writing Evanescence's second album, 2006's The Open Door, due to their use of homemade sounds.[3]
In an interview with Metal Hammer on May 23, 2017, Amy included the same album in her list of "The 10 Records That Changed My Life" in the category "The Album I Wish I Made Is...":[4]
On August 18, 2018, Amy took part in a podcast with Lean Forward specifically discussing Nine Inch Nails in detail.[5]
