Official announcements have been made in regards to a followup to 2006's The Open Door. Amy herself has noted that she has begun writing material and the third album is expected sometime in 2010.

Vin1.jpg I need to show that I’m more than a one trick pony. I'm writing here at the house by myself and it's been really good. But I'd really like to do something different next. [The new songs] are definitely different. I feel like I'm going back to my really old roots. They have more of my folky and Celtic influence than ever before. And it's not all sad -- it's nothing I would categorize as Evanescence. Vin2.jpg

Vin1.jpg We're currently working on new material that I'm extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it's worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music next year... Vin2.jpg

A new song titled Your Love was performed acoustically for an episode of "Legends and Lyrics" expected to air around September-October 2009. It is unknown whether it will be released independently of the Evanescence project or not. There are rumors that Amy's next project will be a solo endeavor—these are simply speculation, however; nobody from the band has made comment the future for Evanescence as of yet.
