Collaboration between Seether and lead singer Amy Lee. Amy Lee co-produced the string arrangement with Double G. Broken was written years before Shaun Morgan met Amy Lee. When Seether was making Disclaimer in 2002, the band wanted Amy Lee to collaborate before the world ever knew about Evanescence. The label balked at the idea until two years later when The Punisher’s soundtrack was compiled.

The video for the song is a live performance video filmed in an abandoned area of the Lancaster Desert in California. The video was filmed in mid-March 2004. The director was Nigel Dick, who is also known for directing the MTV Video Music Award winner “Hero.” There used to be a crystal meth lab there, before it blew up twice. They filmed the video on the scene as it was. This is the second single off of The Punisher soundtrack (Drowning Pool’s Step Up was the first) and the first single off of Seether’s remixed Disclaimer II.

Commercial Release: July 20, 2004

Lyrics

I wanted you to know that I love the way you laugh
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away
I keep your photograph; I know it serves me well
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away

You’ve gone away
You don’t feel me here... anymore

The worst is over now and we can breathe again
I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away
There’s so much left to learn, and no one left to fight
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

‘Cause I’m broken when I’m open
And I don’t feel like I am strong enough
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away

‘Cause I’m broken when I’m open
And I don’t feel like I am strong enough
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away

‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away

You’ve gone away
You don’t feel me here... anymore
