Lithium is a psychiatric drug used as a mood stabilizer, often prescribed to people with bipolar disorder and/or mood swings, along with other mood disorders.

Described as a track "which embraces feeling over numbness".

Suspected by some, before the release of The Open Door, to be a cover of the Nirvana song with which it shares its name, however this is not true.

The enchanting duo consisting of vocals and piano immediately reminds us of My Immortal. When the drums and guitars come in, the atmosphere becomes even more solumn. The vocals take care of emotion and consequently sadden the listener, thus reminding us of songs off Origin. This song is the first album’s highlight/marker and has real potential as a single.
