In 2000-2001, Evanescence went to Ardent Studios in Memphis to mix their latest demos and master their demo album Origin.[1] They were overheard by Pete Matthews and moved up to Memphis to record and mix a catalogue of demos that were later shopped to record labels.[2][3][4] Some Origin songs were retracked with the help of Dust for Life.[2]
