Line 1: Line 1:
A song by Amy Lee that has been the subject of many (as of late 2006) unproven rumours. It is a commonly held belief in the Evanescence community that the song is forbidden for fans to discuss or even listen to, so talking about the song is considered taboo. These rumours all stem from posts supposedly made by band members on various forums that cannot currently be shown to even prove they exist, much less that they were actually written by band members. Amy Lee has not yet made an official adress on the subject.

You is a personal song attributed to Amy Lee originally intended for a select few people. It is important to note that it is not included in Amy Lee's registered repertoire on BMI.com. It is a pre-Fallen song that the band asks fans not to download.

Ben Moody described the situation with the song on the Original Exodus Evanescence Board in early 2003 with the following post:

Since Origin, he[1] has taken the liberty of connecting himself with everything we've ever done. He even has gone to a studio that we recorded at (the owner of which was a friend of his) and made cd's of songs he was never supposed to have. One song in particular, was VERY private. He was FORBIDDEN to show it to anyone, since there was no way I could actually be sure I had every copy. COUNTLESS times people have commented on that song and how he showed it to them. When confronted, he just denies it or says that they heard it on accident or some bullshit. there's a very good chance some of you have it on your computer RIGHT NOW.

The Original Exodus Evanescence Board was a scrolling type board hosted by boards2go.com at the time this post was made (meaning old messages dropped off the bottom of the page and were not archived).

Talking about this song in the Evanescence fan community is the fastest way to become persona non grata.

Notes

  1. The 'he' referred to throughout this quote is the individual responsible for leaking the track.
