I Walk The Line is a song by the US artist Johnny Cash, recorded in 1956. After three other songs with little succes in music charts, "I Walk the Line" was his firts single to reach position #1 at Billboard. The single has been in the chart for 43 weeks, and it sold 2 million copies.

Amy sang her part of the song with Pat Monahan of Train. The performance was filmed and it will be released, along with the full concert, in a DVD[1].

Videos of the performance can be found on the internet[2].

Lyrics

Commemoration Version

[The part sung by Amy with Pat Monahan is in bold text]

(Carolina Chocolate Drops)

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

(Shelby Lynne and Ronnie Dunn)

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine, I walk the line

(Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile and Rhett Miller)

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I've known proves that it's right
Because you're mine, I walk the line

(Pat Monahan of Train and Amy Lee)

You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine, I walk the line

(Lastly Lucinda Williams and Sam Beam of Iron & Wine)

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

Original Version

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine, I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I've known proves that it's right
Because you're mine, I walk the line

You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line
